Azerbaijan will host the third meeting of the heads of anti-corruption agencies from member states of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Baku in 2026, a development highlighting the country's growing role in global anti-corruption efforts.
Azerbaijan’s Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev made the announcement during a meeting with Hamad bin Nasser Al-Misnad, President of Qatar’s Administrative Control and Transparency Authority, who was on an official visit to Baku, Caliber.Az reports.
Aliyev emphasised the strong political cooperation between Azerbaijan and Qatar, noting that their bilateral ties span various areas of mutual interest. He underlined the importance of the upcoming 2026 summit in Baku, calling it a key event for deepening institutional cooperation among OIC member states in the fight against corruption. He also stressed the significance of Azerbaijan’s participation in the Global Operational Network of Anti-Corruption Law Enforcement Authorities (GlobE Network) and other international platforms as a means to enhance joint efforts and expand collaborative mechanisms.
During the meeting, Hamad bin Nasser Al-Misnad praised Azerbaijan's notable achievements in curbing corruption, saying the country had made meaningful contributions to international anti-corruption cooperation. He highlighted the valuable role played by Azerbaijan’s Prosecutor General’s Office in various international forums, emphasising how such engagements strengthen global partnerships and knowledge-sharing among anti-corruption institutions.
Following the official talks, the Qatari delegation was given a tour of the Museum of the History of the Prosecutor General’s Office. The guests visited an exhibit dedicated to the life and work of national leader Heydar Aliyev and viewed a number of artefacts that trace the development and modernisation of Azerbaijan’s prosecutorial system.
