Russian leader eyes agreement with Ukraine but cites legal roadblocks from Kyiv
Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that Russia seeks to reach an agreement with Ukraine, including on territorial matters, but stressed that such negotiations are currently legally impossible from Kyiv’s side.
Speaking to journalists, Putin emphasized that Moscow is insisting on international recognition of the provisions of any future settlement, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
“Of course, we ultimately want to reach an agreement with Ukraine. But at present, this is practically impossible, legally impossible. Those who can and wish to negotiate—let them do so,” Putin said.
The Russian leader underscored the importance of global acknowledgment, adding, “We need these decisions of ours to be internationally recognized by the major global players.”
