Russia's Lukoil gets new president
Vadim Vorobyov has been appointed as new Lukoil president.
Lukoil shareholders have decided at an extraordinary meeting on May 30 to terminate the powers of Lukoil president Vagit Alekperov ahead of schedule and appoint Vadim Vorobyov to this position, RIA Novosti reports, referring to the company.
"A decision was made to terminate the powers of president of Lukoil company Vagit Alekperov ahead of schedule and appoint Vadim Vorobyov,"the company said.
Vagit Alekperov, who headed the company since its foundation in 1993 and was a member of the board of directors, resigned ahead of schedule on April 21, 2022.
He explained this decision with a desire to distance himself from Lukoil so that the company would not be affected by the sanctions of UK and Australia.
