Russia seeks solutions for restoring logistics in South Caucasus official says
Spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova has said that Russia aims to find a solution that satisfies both Azerbaijan and Armenia in addressing the restoration of logistics routes in the South Caucasus.
Zakharova made these remarks during a weekly briefing in response to a question from a NEWS.ru. journalist, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
She emphasised that Moscow is prepared to render comprehensive assistance in restoring transport routes.
"We have already mentioned that the entire region would benefit from this restoration. I would also like to highlight a recent comment from Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation and co-chair of the trilateral working group Alexei Overchuk. He stressed that the restoration of economic and transport corridors in the South Caucasus is possible only with Russia's involvement. Therefore, we are actively working in this direction," the diplomat stated.
She noted that the West seeks to maintain its influence over processes in the South Caucasus, including efforts to destabilise the region.
"The West is prepared to go to any lengths, including igniting new wars and escalating existing conflicts. As for interfering in the affairs of sovereign countries, I won’t even mention that, as it does so continuously," Zakharova remarked.
She highlighted that the US attempts to encourage Georgia to open a "second front" against Russia clearly demonstrate the dangers of engaging with the West.
"Such behaviour should serve as a lesson for everyone who fawns over the US and the EU. One must understand the true value of their promises. At first, they will offer the best opportunities, but when the time comes, they will demand that you must relinquish your sovereignty and independence," the diplomat added.
