Russia, Tajikistan discuss energy infrastructure cooperation
Russia and Tajikistan are discussing cooperation on the construction of energy facilities in the northern part of Tajikistan, TASS reports, citing Tajikistan’s Minister of Energy and Water Resources, Daler Juma, at the sidelines of the Energoprom-2026 forum.
Juma recalled that in 2025, the two countries signed a memorandum of understanding for the construction of solar power plants (up to 500 MW) in Tajikistan. Currently, the country is primarily focused on solar energy development.
“Most of our solar potential is in the south, while the greatest need is in the north. Therefore, priority is being given to the northern part of the country. We have discussed this preliminarily, and details are now being worked out,” Juma said.
A feasibility study will be prepared for the project. “We plan to complete the study within this year, in order to begin project implementation,” he added.
