Russia tests new "drone killer" missile system in combat
Russia has successfully tested its latest air defence system, the Pantsir‑SMD‑E, in combat conditions, the state corporation Rostec has confirmed.
Developed by the High-Precision Systems holding, the system is designed to protect critical sites against massed attacks, including those involving unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
The Pantsir‑SMD‑E can engage enemy equipment using either a dozen standard missiles, multiple short-range munitions, or a combination of both.
A key feature of the system is the new TKB‑1055 guided missiles, specifically designed to target small UAVs. During operational trials, these missiles demonstrated high effectiveness against a wide range of aerial threats.
High-Precision Systems noted that the missiles provide reliable defence against various types of drones and other airborne targets, reinforcing Russia’s layered air defence capabilities.
