Russia, Vietnam strengthen ties as Putin meets PM Pham Minh Chinh
Russian President Vladimir Putin received Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh in the Representative Cabinet of the Kremlin Senate Palace.
The meeting concluded the Vietnamese leader’s three-day visit, which began with talks with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
During his stay, Pham Minh Chinh also met with the heads of Russia’s parliamentary chambers, Valentina Matviyenko and Vyacheslav Volodin, as well as Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu.
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov described the Russian-Vietnamese talks as very productive and called the agreement to build a Russian-designed nuclear power plant in Vietnam a breakthrough.
The last meeting between the Russian president and the Vietnamese prime minister took place on September 1, 2025, during a SCO Plus group session in Tianjin, China.
