Russian air defences shoot down eight drones over Moscow

Moscow’s air defence forces have intercepted eight drones heading for the city, Mayor Sergei Sobyanin confirmed.

Two more UAVs flying towards Moscow have been destroyed by the Ministry of Defence's air defence forces, he said, adding that emergency services specialists are working at the crash sites, Caliber.Az reports via Sobyanin's Telegram.

The latest strikes bring the total number of drones shot down over the capital to eight.

Earlier, Sobyanin said six other UAVs had approached Moscow, including one downed less than 1.5 hours prior.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation and respond to debris from the intercepted drones.
