Russian FM outlines Moscow's conditions for ceasefire in Ukraine Recognition of Annexed Regions?
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has outlined Moscow’s conditions for a ceasefire in Ukraine, according to a statement published on the ministry’s website.
Lavrov said the main requirement is international recognition of the territories that Russia claims to have incorporated, Caliber.Az reports.
“For peace to be lasting, the new territorial realities that emerged following the accession of Crimea, Sevastopol, the DPR, LPR, and the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions after the referendums must be recognised and formalised in accordance with international law,” the minister stated.
He stressed that Moscow’s priority remains resolving the conflict through peaceful means.
Lavrov further emphasised that a “fundamental peace” would be impossible without addressing Russia’s security concerns, including NATO’s expansion, and ensuring that Ukraine maintains a neutral, non-aligned, and non-nuclear status.
