Russian says intercepted 2 HIMARS rockets, destroyed 26 UAVs launched by Ukraine
Russian air defence systems intercepted two HIMARS rockets and a JDAM-guided aerial bomb over the past day, Caliber.Az quoted the press service of the Russian Defence Ministry as saying.
Two drones have been shot down by Russian air defences above the western Russian Bryansk Region, while three more were intercepted off Crimea, the Russian Defence Ministry said earlier on November 16.
"In the early hours of November 16, the Kyiv regime’s attempt to stage a terrorist attack involving fixed-wing drones was foiled. On-duty air defence units intercepted two Ukrainian drones above the territory of the Bryansk Region. Three more UAVs were intercepted above the Black Sea, near the coast of the Republic of Crimea," the ministry said.
Bryansk region Governor Alexander Bogomaz specified that the drones were shot down on the approach to Bryansk.
"There are no casualties or damage," he wrote on his Telegram channel.
Overall, Russia shot down 26 Ukrainian UAVs over the day.
In all, the Russian Armed Forces have destroyed 535 Ukrainian warplanes, 254 helicopters, 8,934 unmanned aerial vehicles, 441 surface-to-air missile systems, 13,396 tanks and other armoured combat vehicles, 1,184 multiple rocket launchers, 7,105 field artillery guns and mortars and 15,273 special military motor vehicles since the start of the special military operation in Ukraine, the ministry reported.
