Search and rescue underway after Turkish Air Force plane crash in Georgia
Search and rescue operations are ongoing at the site of a Turkish Air Force C-130 military cargo plane that crashed in Georgia, in accordance with aviation safety protocols.
The crash occurred on November 11 in the Signagi area, approximately five kilometres from the Georgian state border. The aircraft had been flying from Azerbaijan to Türkiye. The Turkish Ministry of Defence confirmed that the plane belonged to its military fleet.
According to Georgian media, cited by Caliber.Az, Sakaeronavigatsia LLC, the aviation services provider in Georgia, reported that Turkish aircraft C-130 disappeared from their radar a few minutes after entering Georgian airspace. The plane did not issue any distress signal, prompting Sakaeronavigatsia to initiate established search and rescue procedures.
In full compliance with international protocols, a Sakaeronavigatsia search team was dispatched to the presumed crash site to locate the aircraft and provide assistance to any victims.
Authorities are coordinating closely to ensure the rescue operation proceeds efficiently and safely.
