Direct flights connect Astana and Belgrade for first time
A direct air connection has been launched between Astana and Belgrade, Kazakhstan’s Civil Aviation Committee announced.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by Kazakhstan’s Deputy Transport Minister, Talgat Lastayev, SCAT Airlines President Vladimir Denisov, Serbian Ambassador to Kazakhstan Vladimir Jović, and First Deputy Chairman of Astana International Airport Ruslan Pyshtanov, Caliber.Az reports, citing Kazinform.
The agreement to establish the route was reached during Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s visit to Serbia.
The project was made possible with support from the Kazakh Foreign Ministry and the country’s embassy in Belgrade.
Upon arrival in Belgrade, the Kazakh delegation was welcomed on behalf of Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić by Speaker of the National Assembly Ana Brnabić and Deputy Transport Minister Verica Ječmenica.
“The launch of direct flights between Astana and Belgrade is an important step in strengthening ties between Kazakhstan and Serbia. The new route will open greater opportunities for business, tourism, and cultural cooperation between our nations,” Lastayev said.
Kazakhstan and Serbia maintain a visa-free regime. The flight duration is five hours and forty minutes, with high passenger demand expected — the first flight carried 92 passengers.
