Seven loaded freight wagons derail in Russia’s Kemerovo region
Seven loaded freight wagons derailed early on May 22 at Uba station in Russia’s Kemerovo region, according to the Telegram post by the West Siberian Transport Prosecutor’s Office.
The incident occurred at approximately 4 a.m. local time on non-public railway tracks operated by LLC “TEK ‘Meret.” Authorities indicated that the wagons did not overturn.
In a statement, the prosecutor’s office said: “Today at around 4 a.m. local time in the Kemerovo region — Kuzbass, on non-public railway tracks owned by LLC ‘TEK ‘Meret’ at Uba station, seven loaded wagons derailed without overturning. (...) The prosecutor’s office examined compliance with legislation on traffic safety and the operation of railway transport. It was established that the assigned category of the railway crossing located on Izhevskaya Street in the city of Tomsk did not correspond to the actual traffic volume of road and rail transport at that section. In this regard, the transport prosecutor submitted a motion to the owner of the transport infrastructure to eliminate violations of the law, following the review of which the railway crossing was assigned the appropriate category, and the responsible person was brought to disciplinary liability.”
