Shortcomings in justice, state institutions — Armenia’s key challenges, president says
Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan has highlighted shortcomings in justice, fairness, and state institutional effectiveness as Armenia’s primary challenges.
“According to international indices, Armenia has two key problems: the worst indicators are observed in the areas of the rule of law, justice, and fairness, and the second is in the effectiveness of state institutions,” Khachaturyan said during a panel discussion at the first conference of Armenian government officials, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
He highlighted the country’s significant progress in other areas, including financial stability, economic freedom, and foreign trade, the Armenian president’s press service said.
The president emphasised the importance of defining the extent to which the state should support economic growth and its level of involvement in the economy. He stressed that current reforms are focused on achieving this balance.
“Our actions today must be forward-looking; we must be able to develop while ensuring a prosperous life for our citizens. Today, strength and weakness are measured not only by how well we solve the challenges before us—whether for the state or society—but by how effectively we do it,” Khachaturyan stated.
