Tatarstan's leader gets acquainted with ongoing work in Azerbaijan's Eastern Zangezur region PHOTO

Rais of the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation Rustam Minnikhanov, who is visiting the Republic of Azerbaijan, has been informed of the works in progress in the districts of Jabrayil, Gubadli and Zangilan, which are parts of the Eastern Zangezur economic region.

Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Eastern Zangezur economic region Vahid Hajiyev delivered a presentation on the ongoing works in the districts of Jabrayil, Gubadli and Zangilan, Azertag reported on June 17.

The Rais of Tatarstan was first briefed on the Zangilan international airport. The airport was opened on October 20, 2022, with the participation of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and President of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The airport can receive all types of aircraft and serve 200 passengers per hour.

The total area of the districts of Jabrayil, Gubadli and Zangilan is 2580 square kilometres. The process of relocation of IDPs has started under the Great Return state program. The number of IDPS from this region totals 152,200.

Rustam Minnikhanov was informed of demining operations, road network and electric power infrastructure in the region.

The Rais also learnt about Araz Valley Economic Zone industrial park. A total of 32.7 million manats were injected into the implementation of the projects in the industrial park.

Minnikhanov has familiarized himself with the ongoing works in the city of Zangilan.

Rustam Minnikhanov first was informed of the construction progress of the Convention Center in the city.

The 605-seat Convention Center occupies an area of 2,2 hectares.

The Rais of the Republic of Tatarstan then viewed the construction progress of the Zangilan Mosque.

The Zangilan Mosque is being built by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation with the support of “Pasha Holding” LLC.

The foundation stone for the Zangilan Mosque was laid on April 26, 2021, with the participation of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva and their daughter Leyla Aliyeva.

Touring the city of Zangilan, the Rais of Tatarstan viewed the destruction caused by Armenians.
