Teen arrested in Russia for planning mass murders at school
The Tyukalinsky City Court in Russia’s Omsk region has placed a teenager in custody, charging him with planning a school shooting using firearms and explosives.
According to the regional court press service, the teen is also accused of involvement in terrorist activities, Caliber.Az reports.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect adhered to the ideology of the “Columbine” organisation, which is banned as a terrorist group in Russia.
Law enforcement sources say he searched online for information about the organisation, discussed past school massacres, and planned to kill students and staff. The teen reportedly purchased tactical gloves, an air pistol, and clothing bearing the organisation’s symbols.
The suspect will remain in custody until March 28. He faces charges under Article 205.5, Part 2 of the Russian Criminal Code, which covers organising terrorist activities and participation in a terrorist organisation, carrying a sentence of 10 to 20 years in prison.
