TOUAX Rail highlights need for increased vessels to support cargo transportation Along Middle Corridor
Stefan Blaas, Country Manager of Germany for TOUAX Global Rail Services, emphasized the urgent need for additional vessels and improved port operations to enhance cargo transportation along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, also known as the Middle Corridor.
Blaas noted that TOUAX Rail has seen a nearly 50 per cent increase in cargo volume over the past year, primarily due to the transport of goods between Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and European Union countries, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The company relies on the seaports of Azerbaijan and Georgia for its operations, mainly transporting agricultural machinery in both directions.
While the demand for this route is rising, Blaas pointed out that the limited number of vessels currently available in the ports is inadequate to meet the increasing cargo flow. Furthermore, operational efficiency is hampered by strong winds, which affect loading and unloading times.
