Trade and security in focus as Azerbaijan, Brazil expand customs ties
Azerbaijan and Brazil have signed a new agreement to expand cooperation in the field of customs, the State Customs Committee (SCC) of Azerbaijan told Caliber.Az.
The agreement, titled “Agreement on Mutual Administrative Assistance in the Field of Customs Affairs,” was signed on November 13 in Manaus, Brazil, between Lieutenant General Shahin Baghirov, Chairman of the Azerbaijan SCC, and Fabiano Coelho, Head of the Customs Administration of the Federal Revenue Secretariat of Brazil.
According to the SCC, the agreement is designed to enhance collaboration between the two countries’ customs authorities, simplify trade procedures, improve the efficiency of customs control, and ensure the security of international trade and supply chains.
The agreement establishes mechanisms for mutual administrative support on customs matters, facilitates the prevention and investigation of customs-related offences, and promotes the exchange of information and expertise.
It also seeks to deepen technical cooperation, share advanced management and control methods, and improve customs procedures, contributing to more streamlined and secure cross-border trade.
