Turkish airstrikes destroy 24 terrorist targets in Northern Iraq
The Turkish Air Force has successfully destroyed 24 targets used by a separatist terrorist organisation in northern Iraq, according to a statement from Türkiye’s Ministry of National Defence.
The operation targeted areas in the Hakurk, Gara, Qandil, and Asos districts, which are known strongholds of the PKK/KCK terrorist group, Caliber.Az reports, citing the ministry's post on X.
The airstrikes, conducted under the right to self-defence as outlined in Article 51 of the UN Charter, aimed to neutralise terrorist elements responsible for attacks on Turkish citizens and security forces.

The ministry stated that the operation sought to eliminate threats emanating from northern Iraq, including command-level terrorists.
"The air operation destroyed 24 targets, consisting of caves, shelters, and warehouses used by the terrorist organisation," the ministry said, noting that these facilities were believed to house high-ranking members of the group.
The strikes focused on infrastructure critical to the terrorist group's operations, significantly disrupting their capabilities.
"A large number of terrorists were neutralised as a result of the operation," the statement added, although specific details on the number of casualties were not disclosed.
The Turkish government has intensified its military operations in northern Iraq in recent years as part of its broader efforts to secure the country's borders and eliminate the PKK/KCK, which Türkiye has designated as a terrorist organisation. The operation is part of a series of airstrikes aimed at dismantling terrorist networks and preventing future attacks.
