Turkish Cyprus leader proudly attends OTS Summit in Shusha
"I am proud to have represented the people of Turkish Cyprus at the informal summit of the Organisation of Turkic States (OTS) in Shusha, invited by President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan. The strength of the Turkic world lies in unity!" said President Ersin Tatar of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) during a Sunday briefing in Lefkosa, reflecting on his visit to Azerbaijan.
Tatar expressed deep gratitude to the Azerbaijani leadership for their exceptional hospitality and attention, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
"The representatives of the TRNC were welcomed in Azerbaijan with full state protocol, a courtesy previously extended only in Turkey. I am thankful to President Ilham Aliyev and everyone involved in organizing the summit in Shusha," Tatar emphasized.
He also shared his satisfaction with visiting Khankendi, a town recently liberated from Armenian occupation, and admitted his long-standing hope to participate in such a significant dialogue platform.
"Our goal is to fully develop ties within the OTS. I am delighted that the TRNC flag flew in Shusha," Tatar stated. He also criticized some EU politicians' reactions to Lefkosa's invitation to the informal OTS summit in Shusha.
According to Tatar, strengthening ties with Turkic states significantly bolsters the position of Turkish Cypriots and advances justice in Cyprus, aligned with the two-state solution.
