Turkish drone Tepe successfully completes first combat mission PHOTO
The Tepe drone, manufactured by the Turkish company AA Teknoloji, has successfully completed its first official mission.
"Tepe will enable visual contact in war zones, during earthquakes, floods, and social unrest," said Emre Çebi̇şli, the Director of Systems and Cybersecurity, Caliber.Az reports via Turkish media.
The drone was used for aerial and ground footage of a building where T-walls, sent from the American base in Tanf, Syria, were installed in an area occupied by the PKK/YPG terrorist group, in the Ain al-Arab (Kobani) region. This marked its first mission.
Çebi̇şli emphasized that the drone is one of the most valuable products of AA Teknoloji.
"We developed it based on the experience of our staff working in various conditions. We analysed how our operators work and created a drone that ensures safety in risky locations," he added.
According to Çebi̇şli, the Tepe drone is capable of operating in strategically important and hazardous areas where it is difficult to establish visual contact. It undergoes aerodynamic testing and can function in strong winds, at distances of up to 10 kilometres.
The drone is also equipped with a live-streaming function. Çebi̇şli mentioned that Tepe is fitted with two cameras that deliver 4K image quality, allowing for high-quality footage. It can also record data both on its built-in storage and on the operator’s goggles, he added.
The company plans to begin serial production of the drone in the near future. Çebi̇şli noted that further research and development will enhance the device.
It has been noted that the drone is not reliant on GPS and is not affected by false GPS signals. It is also easy to set up and charges quickly, making it ideal for use in field conditions.
