Turkish TV channel features discussions on AZAL plane tragedy VIDEO

The tragic crash of an Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) plane near Aktau, Kazakhstan, was featured on Turkish television, where Suheyla Demir, the head of the world news desk at Haber Global, shared insights into the ongoing investigation and Azerbaijan's efforts to uncover the causes of the disaster.

In her remarks, Demir highlighted the significant cooperation between Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Russia in the aftermath of the crash, Caliber.Az reports.

She pointed out the telephone conversations between Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Russian President Vladimir Putin, emphasizing the close coordination between the two countries.

On December 25, 2024, an Embraer 190 passenger aircraft, operated by Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL), was en route from Baku to Grozny, Russia, when it suffered a catastrophic failure. The flight, carrying 67 individuals, including 37 Azerbaijanis, 16 Russians, 6 Kazakhs, and 3 Kyrgyz nationals, encountered severe technical and physical interference while in Russian airspace, leading to the loss of control. The crew, under extreme pressure, successfully diverted the aircraft toward Aktau, Kazakhstan.

As part of national recognition for the victims, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has signed a decree honouring the bravery and professionalism of the crew members involved in the aftermath of the tragic crash of an Embraer 190 passenger aircraft.

The President of Azerbaijan, posthumously awarded the title of National Hero to Igor Kshnyakin, Alexander Kalyaninov, and Hokuma Aliyeva for their courageous actions during the emergency.

In addition, two surviving crew members, Zulfugar Asadov and Aydan Rahimli, have been awarded the 1st Degree “Rashadat” Order for their exceptional professionalism and invaluable contributions in managing the crisis.

Preliminary reports suggest that the crash may have been caused by physical and technical external interference, with the investigation continuing to uncover the full details.

Further updates and discussions on the tragedy, including efforts to determine the precise causes, were covered in a video broadcast on the Turkish channel, with Demir reaffirming Azerbaijan's commitment to ensuring a full investigation and accountability for the incident.
