Türkiye continues to boost arms production
Turkish defence companies continue to develop new weapons with a focus on domestic resources.
A major step has been taken to localize the production of 25mm guns used on sea and land platforms, among other things. The company Makine ve Kimya Endüstrisi AŞ (MKE AŞ) is closely involved in the development of these systems, Anadolu reports.
The developers have set a priority on eliminating the Turkish Armed Forces' dependence on foreign models of this type of system, and have begun work on the 25mm gun barrel.
The level of import substitution in the production of 25mm guns has already reached 100 per cent and the gun itself with its domestic component has successfully passed tests in the Turkish Navy.
At the moment the project is at the stage of serial production and the Turkish Armed Forces will receive the first guns in the near future. Along with the barrels, MKE is working on the production of the entire 25mm gun.
