Türkiye, EU to discuss customs union update
Turkish Trade Minister Omer Bolat has said representatives of Türkiye and the European Union (EU) will discuss the issues of updating the roadmap of Ankara's relations within the framework of the customs union in September.
"The meeting to update the roadmap will be held on September 6 in Ankara. It will be attended by representatives of the EU and the European Commission. On September 25 in Brussels, the issue will be discussed with the leadership of the European Commission," the Milliyet newspaper quoted the minister as saying.
At the NATO summit in Vilnius in July, Türkiye declared its readiness to support Sweden's accession to the alliance in exchange for the removal of obstacles in Ankara's negotiation process with the European Union, increased cooperation within the customs union and visa liberalization. In parallel, an agreement was reached with the EU to update the roadmap for relations within the customs union.
