Speaking during an expanded meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Baku, Berdimuhamedov highlighted the strategic significance of joint efforts between the two countries in areas including security, economic development, ecology, and environmental protection, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
The Turkmen leader noted that Turkmenistan has proposed holding a high-level meeting dedicated to Caspian Sea issues and expressed hope that Azerbaijan would support efforts to promote the Caspian Environmental Initiative.
Berdimuhamedov also underscored the importance of strengthening transport and logistics cooperation, proposing increased activity within the Turkmen-Azerbaijani Commission on Transport, Transit, and Logistics.
He described the transport and transit sector as one of the key pillars of bilateral cooperation, noting that the favorable geographic positions of Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan provide significant advantages for the development of international transport corridors.
Highlighting successful regional connectivity projects, Berdimuhamedov pointed to the Afghanistan–Turkmenistan–Azerbaijan–Georgia–Turkey transport corridor as a model of effective cooperation. He also reiterated support for the proposed Caspian Sea–Black Sea transport corridor linking Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Romania.
