Two years passes since liberation of Jabrayil
October 4 marks the second anniversary of one of the glorious victories of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces over the Armenian army in the Second Karabakh War in 2020.
Two years ago, on October 4, 2020, the President of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ilham Aliyev tweeted that the Azerbaijani army liberated the city of Jabrayil from the Armenian occupation, Caliber.Az reports.
“Today, the Azerbaijani army liberated the city of Jabrayil and a number of surrounding villages from occupation. Long live the Azerbaijani army. Karabakh is Azerbaijan,” President Aliyev wrote then.
Jabrayil, with an area of 1,050 square kilometres, and a population of 80,000 people, was occupied by the Armenian Armed Forces on August 23, 1993.
According to a decree of Azerbaijan’s president, 10,211 servicemen who showed courage and bravery while fighting for Jabrayil’s liberation were awarded the medal "For the liberation of Jabrayil".
