UN Security Council informed about murder of children in Khojaly
As a result of the Armenian aggression in the city of Khojaly, hundreds of civilians, including 63 children, were killed within a few hours. The fact that during the conflict about 4,000 Azerbaijani citizens, including 71 children, went missing shows how great the scale of Armenian atrocities is.
Chargé d'Affaires a.i. of the Permanent Mission of Azerbaijan to the United Nations (UN) Narmin Akhangari said this during her speech at the Open Debate on Children and Armed Conflicts at the UN Security Council (SC), Report informs.
The diplomat noted that since the beginning of the 1990s, in almost thirty years of aggression against Azerbaijan, Armenia had committed many war crimes, as a result of which tens of thousands of civilians, including hundreds of children, were killed, mass ethnic cleansing was carried out, and people turned out to be forced migrants. About 700 secondary schools and more than 800 pre-schools were destroyed as a result of this aggression.
Narmin Akhangari also spoke about the atrocities committed by Armenia against Azerbaijani citizens taken prisoner during the conflict.
“Most of the Azerbaijani prisoners of war were subjected to severe torture. They were beaten, maimed, left to starve, and mistreated. The perpetrators of these numerous atrocities remain unpunished in open disregard for international law.”
