Azerbaijani, Turkish FMs explore allied relations, map out regional future
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov held a high-level meeting with his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan on the sidelines of the 4th Antalya Diplomacy Forum, underscoring the enduring and strategic partnership between the two allied nations.
The ministers engaged in a wide-ranging discussion covering bilateral cooperation in the fields of politics, security, economy, transport, communications, and humanitarian affairs, Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs told Caliber.Az.
The sides also exchanged views on joint engagement within regional and international organizations, including matters of mutual concern on the Azerbaijani-Turkish strategic agenda.
The FMs praised the Antalya Diplomacy Forum—now in its fourth iteration—as a key international platform for addressing pressing global and regional challenges. Emphasis was placed on the importance of diplomatic dialogue and negotiation in mitigating contemporary threats to regional and international stability.
The ministers reaffirmed the exemplary nature of the Azerbaijan-Türkiye alliance, which they described as grounded in deep-rooted historical and cultural ties. They highlighted the continued development of allied relations across all levels, attributing much of this progress to the dynamic and consistent dialogue between the leaders of the two nations.
Special attention was given to enhancing collaboration within regional institutions, notably the Organisation of Turkic States, which both sides view as a vital mechanism for deepening cooperation among Turkic-speaking nations.
Minister Bayramov provided a comprehensive update on the post-conflict situation in the South Caucasus, detailing Azerbaijan’s ongoing reconstruction efforts in the liberated territories, initiatives to neutralize the mine threat, and the current status of normalization talks with Armenia. He also outlined the key obstacles impeding progress in the peace process.
The meeting concluded with an exchange of views on a number of other regional and international issues of shared interest, reinforcing the mutual commitment of Baku and Ankara to sustained strategic cooperation.
