Western Azerbaijan Community accuses Armenian FM of slander, calls for peaceful resolution
The Western Azerbaijan Community has said that Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan has again made statements distorting the normalisation process with Azerbaijan.
"First of all, we remind that it was Armenia that for 30 years demonstrated clear disrespect to the Alma-Ata Declaration, violated the territorial integrity of another country, did not allow delimitation and demarcation of borders,” Caliber.Az reports, citing the Community’s statement.
“Ararat Mirzoyan's assertion that Azerbaijan is not responding to the proposal to establish a mechanism for controlling border incidents and armaments is a disingenuous and completely meaningless attempt to present itself as a constructive party in the eyes of the international community. No one doubts how Armenia, which for 30 years ignored multilateral mechanisms in the field of conventional arms control in Europe, kept Azerbaijani territories under occupation and stationed its troops and weapons there, will "stick" to any other arms control mechanism,” the statement reads.
“Instead of making slanderous statements about the alleged forced resettlement of Karabakh Armenians, turning a blind eye to the anti-Azerbaijani activities of so-called 'institutions', pursuing a policy of militarisation, creating tension on the border, Armenia should sincerely seek peace with Azerbaijan and create conditions for our return to our native lands," the commentary reads.
