Community: Armenian court’s provocative ruling harms peace with Azerbaijan
The Western Azerbaijan Community has expressed concern over a series of actions undertaken in Armenia and beyond that run counter to peace and undermine the positive momentum in the ongoing process of reconciliation between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
The Community said in a statement that these steps contradict the spirit of the August 8, 2025 Washington summit, held with the participation of U.S. President Donald Trump, as well as the recent meeting between the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia in Abu Dhabi, Caliber.Az cites a local outlet.
“We view with outrage the provocative decision of a court in Armenia claiming that the so-called ‘decision on self-dissolution’ of the fictitious entity, adopted by a person named Samvel Shahramanyan, was made under force or threat and therefore has no legal validity," the statement reads.
The statement notes that this court ruling is clearly directed against the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.
"On what grounds, and with what mandate, does an Armenian court interfere in the internal affairs of a sovereign state? The Western Azerbaijan Community regards this court decision, as well as the activities of revanchist forces in Armenia—where parliamentary elections are scheduled to be held this year—as actions directed against peace," the message reads.
"If the Armenian court truly intends to contribute to peace and reconciliation between the two peoples, it should instead issue rulings condemning the deportation of us, Azerbaijanis, from our ancestral lands, as well as the destruction of cemeteries and mosques,” the Community added.
