Western Azerbaijan Community completes monitoring of 500+ cemeteries
The Western Azerbaijan Community has completed a comprehensive monitoring of over 500 cemeteries that remained in Western Azerbaijan at the time of the last deportation, said Aziz Alakbarli, Chairman of the Community and Member of Parliament.
"We have completed the monitoring of more than 500 cemeteries that remained in Western Azerbaijan at the time of the last deportation," he said, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
According to him, the results of the monitoring have been communicated to the international community, and a report will be demanded from the leadership of Armenia, Armenian separatists, and nationalists for their actions.
"Our ancestors, who lived in these territories for millennia, created a rich cultural heritage there. Unfortunately, Armenians, who began settling in these lands 200 years ago, immediately started destroying or Armenianizing Azerbaijan’s cultural heritage monuments. Of course, we appealed to UNESCO and the leadership of Armenia to conduct a monitoring of the cultural heritage in Western Azerbaijan. But the Armenian leadership is categorically against it. We do not intend to accept such a position and will continue monitoring the cultural heritage sites. Recently, we had new footage," the chairman said.
