World sales of Lada cars drop sharply
AvtoVAZ's global sales, including both in the Russian and overseas markets, fell by 33.1% in the first quarter of 2022, to 60.6 vehicles, according to a press release from the main shareholder of the Volga Automobile Plant, Renault Group.
According to Prime, according to the data of the Association of European Businesses, 52.7% of this car manufacturer was sold in Russia in January-March (-37% compared to last year). Thus, export sales of Lada in the first quarter amount to almost 7.9 assembled units.
At the same time, the revenue of the automotive group Renault from participation in AvtoVAZ amounted to 23.1% in annual terms in the quarter, to 527 million euros, according to a report by the French company. At the same time, the group's total revenue for the first three months reached 9,748 billion euros, declining by 2.7% in annual terms.
AvtoVAZ produces full-cycle cars and components for two brands - Lada and Renault. Production facilities are exposed in Tolyatti and in Izhevsk. The Lada brand consists of five families of models: Vesta, Xray, Largus, Granta and Niva. The brand leads the Russian automotive market with a share of more than 20% and is represented in more than 20 countries.
The company's sales in Russia in 2021 grew by 2% to 350.7 units.
