Ankara denies delay in Russia-Ukraine talks, meeting time pending
The time for the anticipated meeting between the Russian and Ukrainian delegations in Istanbul has not yet been determined, and there are currently no indications that the negotiations are being delayed, a source in the Turkish Foreign Ministry said.
“So far, there is no scheduled time for the meeting. Therefore, any suggestion of a delay is unfounded,” the source clarified, addressing speculation surrounding the status of the talks, Caliber.Az reports citing Turkish media.
A technical delegation from Russia is already present in Istanbul, and several US officials are also reportedly in the city, underscoring the international attention surrounding the negotiations.
The source further noted that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is expected to hold a meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Ankara in the near future, signaling continued diplomatic engagement at the highest levels.
The talks, aimed at exploring a potential path toward de-escalation and peace, mark a significant development after years of stalled negotiations between Moscow and Kyiv.
