Over 50 flights delayed or canceled at Moscow airports before restrictions lifted
On December 27, over 50 flights at Moscow’s Vnukovo and Sheremetyevo airports were delayed or cancelled before Russia’s aviation authority, Rosaviatsia, lifted restrictions later that night, a Russian outlet reported, citing online flight boards.
When restrictions were in effect, twenty-four aircraft were diverted to alternate airports, and more than ten flights were cancelled. The majority of affected flights involve Vnukovo Airport, which is fully closed to arrivals and departures.
At Sheremetyevo, which operates flights in coordination with government authorities, a significant number of delays were reported, though most are expected to be under two hours.
Later, on December 28 at 01:55 Moscow time, the restrictions were lifted. This was announced by Rosaviatsia representative Artyom Korenyako. These restrictions had previously been introduced to ensure flight safety.
