Armenia approves bill to ratify TRIPP cooperation pact with US
The Armenian government has approved a draft law to ratify the framework agreement with the United States on strategic cooperation under the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) initiative.
The agreement was signed by the US Secretary of State in Washington on June 1, 2026, and by Armenia's Foreign Minister in Yerevan on June 4, 2026, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
The explanatory note accompanying the draft legislation states that its adoption will complete the domestic legal procedures required for the agreement to enter into force.
Prepared by Armenia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the bill forms part of the government's broader policy of expanding strategic cooperation with the United States.
As part of the ratification process, the government also approved a request to the Constitutional Court to assess whether the obligations set out in the agreement comply with Armenia's Constitution.
Should the Constitutional Court issue a favourable ruling, the draft law will be submitted to the National Assembly for consideration under the country's established legislative procedures.
The government has appointed Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan as its representative before the Constitutional Court for proceedings related to the agreement.
