Armenia evades providing Azerbaijan with information on mass grave sites Statement by Ombudsperson
Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of Azerbaijan Sabina Aliyeva has made statement on the emergence of new facts related to crimes against humanity committed by Armenia.
The Ombudsman's Office informed APA that the remains of Basira Maharramova and Vagif Maharramov, who went missing during the Khojaly genocide committed by Armenian armed forces in February 1992, have been buried today.
The remains of the two, who were members of the same family, victims of discrimination and ethnic cleansing, were discovered in a mass grave found 32 years later in Khojaly district.
"This fact once again proves that Armenia has committed war crimes and violated the norms of international humanitarian law.
We once again remind that the Armenian side, flagrantly violating the norms of international law, for almost 30 years deprived the families of nearly 4,000 missing Azerbaijanis of the right to receive information about them, as well as still evades providing Azerbaijan with information about the places of mass graves," the statement says.
