The two-day meeting, held under the theme “The OIC in a Transforming World,” is chaired by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.
This session has attracted a record attendance, bringing together foreign ministers from over 40 countries.
Besides representatives from the 57 member states of the OIC, around 1,000 delegates from observer nations and international organisations are also participating.
The agenda focuses on several pressing issues, including the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict, efforts to resolve it based on a two-state solution, tensions between Israel and Iran, and strengthening cooperation to address challenges faced by Muslim communities worldwide.
By the end of the session, attendees are expected to adopt the Istanbul Declaration and approve multiple draft decisions relating to the OIC’s agenda.
Türkiye has previously hosted the Council of Foreign Ministers sessions in 1976, 1991, and 2004, and with this session, it will assume the rotating one-year chairmanship of the Council.
