20 June 2025 19:14

On June 20, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov began an official working visit to Istanbul, Türkiye, where he will participate in the 51st session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

His agenda also includes attending various roundtables and committee meetings organised within the OIC framework, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.

In addition to the multilateral engagements, the visit features a series of high-level bilateral meetings, aiming to strengthen Azerbaijan’s diplomatic ties and cooperation with partner countries.

The 51st session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) is set to begin in Istanbul on June 21. The two-day gathering will be chaired by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and will focus on “The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation in a Changing World.”

This year’s session is expected to see a record number of high-level participants compared to previous years, with foreign ministers from more than 40 member states anticipated to attend.

A record number of high-level delegates are expected to arrive in Istanbul for the 51st session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), including foreign ministers from over 40 countries—surpassing attendance figures in previous years. In total, around 1,000 participants representing the 57 OIC member states, affiliated organisations, observer countries, and various international institutions are set to attend the session.

Key topics on the agenda will include the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict, steps toward a two-state solution, and enhancing cooperation in addressing the challenges faced by Muslim communities worldwide. At the conclusion of the session, the Istanbul Declaration is expected to be adopted, along with a series of draft resolutions addressing key items on the OIC agenda.
