Armenia, Italy sign defence cooperation agreement
Armenia and Italy have formalized an agreement to enhance defence cooperation, with the agreement set to remain in effect until 2025.
The Armenian Ministry of Defence announced the development, stating that the agreement was signed following consultations between the defence ministries of the two countries, which took place in Yerevan, Caliber.Az reports citing Russian media.
The consultations were led by Levon Ayvazyan, Head of the Department of Defence Policy and International Cooperation at the Armenian Defence Ministry, and Colonel Mattia Zuzzi, Head of the International Cooperation Branch of the Italian General Staff.
Under the agreement, a program for defence cooperation between Armenia and Italy has been established for 2025. The program includes a variety of initiatives focused on exchanging experience, training in different military fields, military education, and other areas of mutual interest.
Earlier, Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to Azerbaijani President, Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration, claimed that Armenia had received lethal weapons from France, adding that Paris is a significant force behind Armenia's militarization.
