Armenian official on Trump route: Infrastructure must be opened synchronously
Armenia’s Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan has emphasised that the infrastructure within the TRIPP project, also known as the “Trump Route,” must be developed synchronously to ensure effective communications.
Grigoryan said that the type, form, and content of the infrastructure are being discussed in detail, covering all forms of communication, including energy networks, roads, and railways. He noted that the railway component of the project will be 42–43 km long, while the rest of the infrastructure still requires technical study and business planning, Caliber.Az reports per Armenian media.
The deputy prime minister explained that the railway route has already been determined and will not change, as it involves restoring a line that has existed since Soviet times. In contrast, the other transit infrastructure did not exist during the Soviet period and must be designed from scratch.
Grigoryan added that discussions on the railway section, including the area near Yeraskh toward Nakhchivan and Armenia’s southern region, have been ongoing since 2020–2021.
He said that all parties agree the infrastructure would be more profitable if the Yerevan section is included. According to him, the agreements aim for regional infrastructure integration, meaning that all possible communications should become operational.
He also confirmed that Armenia has been in contact with Azerbaijan on numerous issues. Grigoryan stated that once the construction of infrastructure for unblocking transit begins and specific crossing points are determined, these areas must be properly delimited, noting that there is no alternative to this approach.
