Armenia's inflation rate tops EAEU rankings at 1.4% in January
Armenia experienced the highest inflation rate among the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) countries in January 2025, reaching 1.4%.
Russia followed closely with an inflation rate of 1.2%, while Kazakhstan recorded 1.1%, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
The average inflation rate across the EAEU stood at 1.2%.
Armenia also saw the highest growth in food prices, with an increase of 2.8%. The average food price growth within the union was 1.3%. However, meat prices in Armenia decreased by 1.2%, while the cost of bread rose by 0.3%.
To recap, the annual inflation rate in Armenia rose to 2.5% in February 2025, up from 1.7% the previous month. This marked the highest level since April 2023, driven by a faster increase in food and non-alcoholic beverages (4.5% compared to 2.5% in January).
At the same time, costs for recreation and culture rebounded (0.9% compared to -0.2%), while the decline in prices for furnishings, household equipment, and routine home maintenance slowed (-1.6% compared to -2.6%).
Conversely, inflation eased for transport (2.6% compared to 3.2%) and alcoholic beverages and tobacco (3.4% compared to 3.7%). Additionally, prices for clothing and footwear fell further (-2.9% compared to -2.6%).
On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose by 0.1%, a decrease from the 1.4% increase in the previous month.
