Armenia to introduce bill proposing January 27 as "Day of Remembrance and Mourning"
A bill proposing that January 27 be officially designated as a "Day of Remembrance and Mourning" will soon be submitted to the Armenian parliament.
Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Ruben Rubinyan, announced the initiative, saying it will be submitted alongside National Assembly Deputy Gegham Nazarian, as per Caliber.Az.
“Dear friends, I would like to inform you that in the coming days, together with National Assembly Deputy Gegham Nazarian, we will submit a bill declaring January 27 a 'Day of Remembrance and Mourning,’” Rubinyan wrote on his Facebook page.
He emphasised the importance of the day: “We need a special day when we honour the memory of all those who have died in combat throughout history and pay tribute to all those who have fallen for their country.”
According to the proposed bill, January 27 will be set aside for remembrance, while January 28 will continue to be celebrated as Army Day, symbolising ongoing life and national strength.
