Armenia, Türkiye to hold diplomatic meeting at border
Representatives from Armenia and Türkiye are set to meet on July 2 at the Armenian-Turkish border, with the likely venue being near the Margara checkpoint.
The forthcoming meeting was confirmed by a diplomatic source to Armenian media, Caliber.Az reports.
Ruben Rubinyan, deputy speaker of the Armenian Parliament and special representative for the normalization process with Türkiye, had previously mentioned the anticipated meeting.
"There has not been an official meeting for a long time, but we have an agreement that there will be a new meeting between representatives of Armenia and Türkiye. We have no agreement on the date and place yet," Rubinyan stated on June 11.
The Margara Bridge, a crucial crossing point on the Armenian-Turkish border, has been repaired and is prepared for the meeting, according to Rubinyan.
Türkiye's special envoy for this diplomatic effort is Serdar Kiliç, who served as the country’s ambassador to US and Secretary General of National Security Council for seven years.
