Armenian Defence Ministry rejects opposition media claims as false
The Armenian Ministry of Defence has denied three reports published in the January 20 edition of the Yerevan newspaper Hraparak, calling them “entirely false.”
The ministry stated that the first false claim, alleging that internal orders were issued to army evaluation commissions to inflate soldiers’ exam scores ahead of elections to increase salaries, is completely untrue, Caliber.Az reports via Armenian media.
Any interference in the evaluation process, the ministry emphasised, is met with strict legal action by the Defence Minister and law enforcement agencies.
The second falsehood concerns allegations that high-ranking officers abuse their positions to pressure regiment commanders through threats or other means. The ministry noted that it had already refuted similar claims in response to Azatutyun radio inquiries.
Finally, the ministry rejected reports suggesting that the Defence Minister and his family are involved in personnel decisions or exercise favouritism across various spheres.
