Armenian PM commends National Security Service head’s activity calls for well-deserved rest
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has publicly praised the dedicated service of Armen Abazyan, head of the National Security Service and emphasised that Abazyan has earned a well-deserved rest.
Abazyan, the longest-serving head of the National Security Service, was relieved of his duties following a decision by Pashinyan, Caliber.Az reports via Armenian media.
The announcement came on June 18 morning and marks the end of Abazyan’s tenure during one of the country’s most turbulent periods.
Speaking to reporters in parliament, Pashinyan praised Abazyan’s dedication and leadership.
“The role of the National Security Service chief touches almost every sector, especially those related to hybrid warfare,” he said. “Abazyan held this position longer than anyone else, during the toughest times for the country, and he deserves some rest.”
When questioned about whether Abazyan had ever refused to carry out any orders, Pashinyan firmly stated, “The National Security Service director could not have refused to follow any of my instructions.”
