Armenian PM heads to Munich for annual security summit
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has arrived in Munich for a working visit.
According to reports from his press service, shared by Caliber.Az citing Armenian media, during his visit, Pashinyan is set to attend the official opening ceremony of the 61st Munich Security Conference, which will run from February 14 to 16.
As part of the event, the Prime Minister will also engage in a series of bilateral meetings with foreign counterparts.
The Munich Security Conference is a significant event in global security discussions, this year coinciding with key developments such as the arrival of a new US administration, the start of a new European legislative cycle, and Germany’s parliamentary elections.
The conference will be opened by Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, with discussions led by Christoph Heusgen. Central themes will cover global governance, democratic resilience, climate security, regional conflicts, and the future of transatlantic relations. Europe’s role on the world stage will also be a key area of focus.
In addition to the main discussions, around 200 side events and public outreach activities are scheduled. One notable pre-conference gathering is the 4th No Money for Terror Ministerial Conference on Counter-Terrorism Financing, organized by German Finance Minister Jörg Kukies. The conference will conclude with Jens Stoltenberg assuming the role of Chair, taking over from Christoph Heusgen.
