Armenian PM’s Chief of Staff notes “intensive contacts” with Azerbaijan on multiple tracks

29 October 2025 14:50

Chief of Staff of the Armenian Prime Minister’s Office, Arayik Harutyunyan, has stated that Armenia and Azerbaijan are maintaining intensive contacts across all areas, describing the pace of negotiations as “not bad."

According to Harutyunyan, discussions cover border demarcation, foreign policy, and security-related issues, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.

He noted that the outcomes of these talks are gradually becoming public — for instance, Azerbaijan’s recent lifting of the ban on the transport of Armenian goods.

Harutyunyan added that the main goal of the negotiations remains the signing of a peace treaty between the two countries.

On October 21, 2025, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev announced that Azerbaijan had lifted all restrictions on the transit of goods to Armenia. This decision marked a significant step toward peace between the two nations. The first shipment under this new arrangement was a consignment of Kazakh grain, transported via Azerbaijan and Georgia to Armenia—the first such transit since the Soviet era.
