ASTRA: Drone strike sparks fire at oil pumping station in Russia’s Tatarstan Video
A fire broke out in an industrial zone in the city of Almetyevsk after Russian air defence systems intercepted unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) overnight, local authorities said on February 23.
The administration of the Almetyevsk district stated that air defence forces on duty had neutralised drones in the sky over the area. According to officials, falling debris sparked a fire in the industrial zone, Caliber.Az reports per ASTRA.
Independent Russian media outlet ASTRA said it had geolocated two videos from the scene. Based on its analysis, the fire occurred at an oil pumping station near the village of Kaleykino, outside Almetyevsk.
Emergency services were deployed to the scene, and authorities said there were no casualties. They added that efforts were under way to deal with the aftermath and that the situation was under control, posing no direct threat to residents.
Residents of Almetyevsk in the Republic of Tatarstan reported hearing multiple explosions during the night of February 23 and observing a fire.
According to ASTRA, the facility targeted was the Kaleykino oil pumping station, a key hub in Russia’s main pipeline system. The station receives crude oil from various pipelines and plays a central role in regional oil transportation. It is owned and operated by Transneft-Prikamye JSC, a subsidiary of Transneft PJSC.
