Azerbaijan, Bulgaria eye energy, joint investment prospects PHOTO
A business forum in Sofia, part of the 7th meeting of the Azerbaijani-Bulgarian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation, highlighted the growing economic partnership between the two countries, with a strong focus on energy and other sectors with significant potential for collaboration.
Speaking at the forum, Majnun Mammadov, the Azerbaijani Minister of Agriculture and co-chair of the intergovernmental commission, emphasised Bulgaria's key role as an active participant in Azerbaijan's global energy projects, Caliber.Az reports, ciitng the Agriculture Ministry.
He highlighted the importance of energy cooperation, particularly in green energy, for strengthening not only Bulgaria’s energy security but also the broader European region’s energy stability. Mammadov pointed out that beyond energy, there were multiple sectors, including agriculture, food industry, tourism, and international freight transport, where both countries could further expand their economic relations.
Iva Petrova, Bulgaria's Deputy Minister of Energy, underscored the positive trajectory of the strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Bulgaria, noting that both nations’ collaboration was advancing in alignment with their mutual interests.
Petrova explained that Bulgaria was focused on enhancing its gas infrastructure and expanding its national gas transmission network as part of its European goals. She highlighted the crucial role of Azerbaijan in ensuring Bulgaria’s energy independence and contributing to a unified European gas market.
The forum also provided a platform for businesspeople from both countries to hold bilateral meetings, discuss investment opportunities, and explore new avenues for expanding trade and business relations.
