Azerbaijan, Bulgaria target stronger tourism exchange with key 2025 projects
In a step towards closer collaboration, Bulgaria’s Minister of Tourism, Miroslav Borshosh, sat down with Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Bulgaria, Huseyn Huseynov, to explore fresh opportunities for boosting tourism between their nations.
According to the Bulgarian Ministry's press service, the two officials discussed a range of initiatives aimed at increasing tourism exchanges, Caliber.Az reports via domestic media.
One of the standout ideas is the organization of special tourism presentations about Bulgaria in Baku and Azerbaijan in Sofia, set for 2025. These presentations are expected to highlight the rich cultural and natural attractions of both countries, fostering greater mutual understanding and travel between the nations.
Ambassador Huseynov emphasized the significant potential both Azerbaijan and Bulgaria have for enhancing their tourism sectors. He stressed the mutual benefits of expanding tourism links and expressed optimism about the future of this growing partnership.
The Bulgarian Ministry of Tourism is committed to furthering this cooperation, with plans to continue participating in international tourism forums and initiatives led by the World Tourism Organization. These efforts are part of a broader strategy to deepen ties and elevate the tourism industry in both countries.
A major milestone in these efforts was the launch of direct flights between Baku and Sofia, making travel between the two capitals easier than ever before. The first direct flight landed at Sofia Airport in June 2024, with Azerbaijan's national carrier, AZAL, now offering flights twice a week on Tuesdays and Fridays, opening up new possibilities for tourists eager to explore both nations.
